Senior School Chef required for our vibrant and diverse primary school with early years provision

We currently have an opportunity for a School senior chef to lead our school catering kitchen for a school located in Hackney - North London N16 You will be managing a team of 5 kitchen assistants working with our approved catering suppliers, placing orders and responsible for the daily preparation and cooking of fresh nutritious meals for the pupils also catering for allergies and dietary requirements Responsibilities Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient food production and high standards of quality. Oversee daily food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring meals meet nutritional guidelines and taste expectations. Manage food safety protocols rigorously to comply with health regulations and maintain a safe kitchen environment. Plan menus in collaboration with school nutrition policies, balancing variety, nutrition, and appeal. Train and mentor team members in culinary techniques, food handling, and customer service skills. Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement of ingredients, managing stock levels effectively. Ensure smooth kitchen operations during meal service times, maintaining cleanliness and organization at all times. Requirements Must have updated DBS and verifiable references with a solid working background Friendly and capable highly organized senior school chef with a can do attitude Proven supervisory experience in a preferably in a school or contract catering kitchen environment producing quality meals Management skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team. Extensive experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management. Knowledge of health regulations related to food safety and hygiene practices. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and school stakeholders. A genuine passion for creating nutritious meals that support student well-being. Daytimes - 7.30 am - 3.45 pm Monday - Friday - Salary 37-40k (dependent on experience) pro rata Term time only Benefits: Company pension Discounted or free food
